Founder and Medical Director of Lucid Mind Care NP in Psychiatry
Dr. Remmy Peterson is a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)–prepared, board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), licensed in New York State. Born and raised in uptown Manhattan, he provides evidence-based psychiatric care with a focus on complex and
treatment-resistant mental health conditions through a compassionate, trauma-informed, and whole person-centered approach.
Dr. Peterson earned his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in psychiatric nursing from Columbia University School of Nursing in 2022, following a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Columbia University School of Nursing in 2020. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from Syracuse University. During his clinical education at Columbia University, Dr. Peterson has completed various clinical training and internships throughout New York City that includes New York Presbyterian affiliated hospitals and community outpatient clinics.
Dr. Peterson’s clinical work centers on interventional psychiatry. He has extensive experience administering interventional psychiatric treatments for mood, anxiety and trauma-related disorders such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) as well as ketamine and esketamine (Spravato) therapies. He has worked with ketamine therapy in clinical settings for over four years and has completed comprehensive training through the Ketamine Training Center to provide ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP).
His philosophy of care is rooted in psychiatric nursing principles that recognize the connection between mind, body, and spirit in overall mental wellness. He emphasizes collaboration and specialized treatment planning designed to optimize mental health outcomes, improve daily functioning, and support long-term well-being across multiple areas of a patient’s life, including emotional, physical, relational, occupational, and spiritual health.
Dr. Peterson is also deeply committed to community mental health and improving access to compassionate and effective psychiatric care for underserved and marginalized populations.
Dr. Peterson has worked in healthcare for over 10 years across a variety of clinical roles, including healthcare operations, administration, case management, and nursing. His diverse clinical experience includes training within inpatient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient mental health clinics, community-based programs, and Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) teams serving individuals with severe and persistent mental health conditions.
Before becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner, Dr. Peterson worked as a registered nurse administering IV ketamine infusion treatments across a range of psychiatric conditions. Earlier in his career, he served as a case manager within an outpatient community clinic, helping patients navigate mental health care, community resources, and LGBTQ+ affirming medical services. These experiences continue to inform his inclusive, patient-centered, and trauma-informed approach to psychiatric care.
